Since its inception, the activities of the Green Circle have been supported by volunteers, from primary school children to pensioners, annually approx.20-30 people. Young and old people dedicated to the cause of environmental and nature protection can get involved in many of our activities. Our volunteers can take part in work such as botanical and zoological surveys, bird protection programs (e.g. owl counting, burrow cleaning), tree planting, garbage collection campaigns on land and water, and they can also try their hand at attitude-shaping programs (e.g. helping an eco-playhouse as an animator at events). The maintenance and gardening work of our campsite and water tour base in Bodrogolaszi is partly carried out with the help of volunteers.
If you also want to participate in similar activities, are interested in volunteering, want to stand up for a good cause, gain new knowledge, gain work experience or simply spend your free time usefully, apply as a volunteer! ince 2022, through the volunteer program of the European Solidarity Corps, we have also been accepting foreign volunteers for longer or shorter periods. Young people between the ages of 18 and 30 join us from all over Europe and Turkey, who in return for working 5 days a week, 6 hours a day, receive full board, accommodation, meals, insurance, reimbursement of travel expenses, and pocket money during their stay.
Currently, we welcome 2 foreign volunteers every year from spring to autumn, for a period of 6 months, who mainly help with our ecotourism and environmental education tasks along the Bodrog, as well as the maintenance of the campsite and water tour base. The Freshman Protection Center established in Bodrogkeresztúr welcomes three days a week visitors, on request, they hold a craft session for groups of children. They help in organizing summer camps and events, keeping the campsite tidy, issuing and returning water-touring equipment, and keeping them clean. Taking care of the flowers in the yard and the kitchen garden is also one of their tasks.
From mid-August to mid-September approx. And for a period of 1 month, we are expecting a group of volunteers – 18 people in 2024 – who will be involved in the performance of nature conservation tasks. The team of young people of different nationalities (Spanish, Turkish, French, Dutch, Italian, etc.) mainly helps domestic nature conservation by eradicating invasive plants, preventing their further spread, making bird protection equipment (e.g. artificial swallow nests), and maintaining nature trails.Every year, they participate in the highly successful Bodrogi PET Cup event, during which waste floating, floating and deposited on the banks of the river is collected and sorted.
The program provides the volunteers with an excellent opportunity to get to know new cultures and themselves better, to develop their abilities and skills, to learn a language, to discover Hungary or even to form lifelong friendships. At the same time, the opportunity is also open to young Hungarians who want to see the world, learn a language, and gain experience. We help them find the most suitable foreign projects for them.
